We stayed at this deplorable hostel November 2024.
There is a rat infestation in the hostel.
The couch in the front room is stained and is not fit for humans to sit on.
The linens were hairy and stained, and had food on them when we arrived. We had to wash our linens prior to sleeping. This was a horrible experience.
The door did not lock to our rooms or to the front of the building.
The lockers they supplied in the rooms were broken and you were not able to lock up your gear.
We complained to the management and nothing was done. We are in the process of reporting this facility to the city.
a rat ran over one of our students while he was sleeping. A female long term resident in the hostel confirmed that she had let the management know about the rodent problem and they did nothing. You could hear rats running around in the Hvac ducts.
We ended up leaving early. No one from ownership or management returned our phone calls. Nor have they agreed to return our money.

This is my second stay at the Bmore Bunks hostel, and once again, it exceeded all my expectations. My previous visit was about a year and a half ago while waiting for a flight out of BWI, and I am delighted to report that the experience remains just as pleasant.
As many reviews have already highlighted, Hugh is simply exceptional. His dedication and energy in ensuring that guests feel welcome and well-taken care of is truly heart-warming. He goes above and beyond to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and to keep the hostel well-stocked with essentials.
The environment at Bmore Bunks is both clean and cozy. Towels are washed daily, linens are definitely washed between guests, and the floors are cleaned meticulously every day. During my recent stay, there was a minor hiccup with a water leak from upstairs. However, Hugh handled it swiftly and efficiently, containing the issue until a plumber arrived, ensuring there was no disruption to the guests.
Bmore Bunks is not only affordable but also conveniently located close to Penn Station and public transportation, making it easy to explore the city. Safety is clearly a priority here, as the atmosphere feels secure and welcoming.
In summary, if you're looking for a clean, cozy, and affordable place to stay, with exceptional service and a great location, Bmore Bunks is the perfect choice. Hugh's commitment to his guests' comfort and well-being makes this hostel stand out, and I look forward to my next visit.

As has been exhaustively documented here, Hugh is a champion host and knowledgeable local resource! He was very personable, went out of his way to be available, and did his best to ensure that I was informed and safe during my time in Baltimore. The space was clean and well looked after, in an ideal location next to Penn station. Thank-hugh!

Hugh was so kind and helpful. We needed a place to store our luggage and he offered the hostel to us as a safe storage for free. He even told us to relax inside as long as we needed. If he is this kind to complete strangers, I cannot imagine how amazing he must be with paying guests!
